Lab: Assemble the release, its drills and runbook

50 min read·13 Oct 2026
Module 16 · Lab · About 90 minutes · Needs: lessons 1 (containers, settings, releases, CI, canaries, rollback) and 2 (dashboards, alerts, runbooks); the Module 14 lab's tracing.py and the Module 15 lab's worker.py

What you are building

THE RELEASE, FROM MERGE TO ROLLBACK CI gate evals.gate image commit tag Deployments stable + canary compose api, worker run records tracing.py ops.py dashboard, alerts page runbook.md rollback: one step, no build
Only a gated release (green) becomes an image and a deployment; its run records feed the dashboard and alerts, and a page (red) leads to a one-step rollback.

Friday 3 July 2026, week 12 (simulated). Full launch is Monday; Priya wants proof that a bad change reaches few customers and is undone in one step. You assemble Lesson 1's release: Dockerfile, compose.yaml serving the Module 15 lab's returns_desk.worker:app, settings.py, release.py and the CI workflow that waits for python -m evals.gate. Then returns_desk/ops.py puts Lesson 2's dashboard, alerts and runbook on Module 14's tracing.py. Two drills replay 23 June: as a canary, then at full traffic. A scripted model plays both prompts.
