Part 48 · Module 7: Context Engineering

Lesson 1: Why more context can make answers worse

24 min read·13 Oct 2026
Module 7 · Lesson 1 · About 55 minutes · Needs: Module 1 Lesson 1 (TinyLM); Module 2 Lessons 2 and 3 (the context window, trimming and compaction); Module 5 Lesson 1 (the refund rule); the guard ask from course-guide/02

The situation

It is Monday 13 July 2026, week 7, and you run the new drafting step over the dev tickets. Lena stops at one. Yuki Sato's T-1004 asks for her money back on an annual Team plan bought 20 days ago. The refund rule says no_refund; the draft promised a refund "pro rata for the remaining months".

The right article was in the request. So was an old assistant turn from a test thread that said the opposite. Maya asks: "Why did it believe the wrong part, and how do we find the wrong part next time without guessing?" (Quillpath and its people are made up for this course.)

The rest of this course is yours to keep

This course is bought on its own, once, and stays readable afterwards, including the parts added to it later.
